10th Fine Art Photography Awards

I am delighted to announce that the second juried photography contest I entered—the 10th Annual Fine Art Photography Awards—also decided to feature my photography. That’s two for two!

I entered a series of five photographs, all taken in the Sexten Dolomites, in South Tyrol, Italy. This was an international competition, with likely tens of thousands of entries. My work was awarded a Nominee status, which means the series was considered for the top prize in the amateur landscape category.

The five photographs awarded (below) are available as limited edition prints, each in three sizes. Click an image for more information:

Photograph of rounded, rocky mountain peak, jutting out from behind the barren slope of another mountain. A blue-gray cloud rises between the mountains. One side of the peak is lit by the late afternoon sun. From the other side streams a dense flow of clouds, tinted a fiery orange.
Red Head
Photograph of a huge, sheer, broken-edged rock face, jutting up in front of an even larger mountain slope. The top of the nearly vertical-faced rock is dotted with tiny conifers that are easily many times taller than a person, but appear minuscule. The rock is a steely blue with hints of lavender, and the mountainside is equally colorful in shades of rust, pale orange and blue. The photo is edged by foreground conifers in the lower corners.
Broken Cliff, Dolomites
Photograph of a mountainous landscape, warmly lit by a late-afternoon sun, with a central off-white slope and peak shaped somewhat like a breast and nipple. (“Cone” doesn’t suffice. 😊) On the slopes is a rust-colored ground cover, and the mountain is backed by higher, rougher peaks.
The Yellow Mountain
Photograph of at least five layers of mountains in a blue haze (increasingly lighter with distance), under a soft yellow sky.
Dolomites Blue & Gold
Photograph of a stark, treeless mountain landscape. A steep, dark, scree-covered slope in the foreground, gives way to layered mountain ridges with craggy spires, lit by the last of the day's sun. Misty clouds drift low, below and between the foreground ridges, and high stratospheric clouds also fill the dull blue sky.
